Island is on the north part of Zadar’s islands. Vir is separated from the land 3m deep and 300m broad straits Privlacki gaz, which is bridging. It is possible to get there on the road. The most high point is Bandira (112) with reminds of fort.
The biggest village Vir is situated on the hill above the sand bay Sapavac. On the coast are some places for camping. Reminds of Pre-Romans church of St. Nikola were discovered in the harbour. The cemetery is around the church of St. Ivan from 12th or 13th century. The reminds of Venetian defences from 17th century (2 watch towers, peaces of wall and enter gate are at the front of village.
